Before They Were Stars: Stephen Colbert Performs Improv at Second City in 1990

After graduating from university, Stephen Colbert got a job working the box office at the Second City Theatre in Chicago where, of course, some of the greatest comedic performers of all time got their start. Colbert eventually earned a spot in the touring company to jumpstart his own career in comedy, and you can him see here in this handheld footage from 1990, performing in a sketch about naptime in the workplace. Given how much Colbert used to resemble a certain Ghostbuster, I kept waiting for him to say: “Don’t cross the streams”.
