I try not to throw the word “epic” around too much (even if I totally do it anyway), but epic is definitely the first word that comes to mind whie watching this immense five-minute trailer for Cloud Atlas, the next film from the Wachowskis and director Tom Tykwer. This movie has everything! In this trailer alone I found myself reminded of The Fountain, Apocalypto, 2046, The Fifth Element, Blade Runner and more! You just know this movie is going to be breathtakingly cool when it takes them five minutes just to try and get across the premise – makes me wonder how long it’s going to be! Anyway, as if the extreme multifaceted nature of the story wasn’t enough to wow me, I also find myself in awe of the cast list, which includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Keith David, Jim Sturgess, Ben Wishaw, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, and Susan Sarandon. Whoa! This movie is going to be amazing…and now I’m going to watch this preview again and feel the emotions swell in my chest just from the sheer beauty of it all. Even if the finished product sucks, I’d say Cloud Atlas is already worth it for this trailer alone.
