Celebrity Birthday of the Day – August 6

We love to celebrate character actors’ birthdays on TBR, so today we pay tribute to a great “That Guy” – Leland Orser! Man, what a cool name. Orser began his career in front of the camera in 1991 with a part on the TV series Gabriel’s Fire. He quickly followed that role with several other television appearances on shows such as Eerie, Indiana, L.A. Law, The Golden Girls, Cheers, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and The X-Files. Other notable TV credits to Orser’s name include Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Married with Children, NYPD Blue, The Outer Limits, CSI, Law & Order: SVU, 24, and ER. Orser has also done extensive work in the movies, with his filmography including such films as Se7en, Independence Day, Escape From L.A., Saving Private Ryan, Very Bad Things, The Bone Collector, Pearl Harbor, Daredevil, Taken, and the upcoming sequel Taken 2! But perhaps the most memorable Leland Orser role (in my mind, anyway) was from the otherwise crummy Alien: Resurrection, wherein an alien bursts out of Orser’s chest and through someone’s head! I really wish that clip was on Youtube for you to watch, but alas, it is not, so here’s the Nostalgia Critic’s review of it instead. Leland Orser turns 52 today.
