A break in the manhunt for Osama bin Laden is the backdrop for the gripping story about the combined efforts of an extraordinary group of Navy SEALS. About the most daring military op of our generation.
I’m not big into military movies, but Kathryn Bigelow’s work is definitely the exception to that rule. Ever since I was blown away by The Hurt Locker (see what I did there?), I’ve been very curious to see what film would serve as her follow-up the movie that won her an Oscar. Even though Zero Dark Thirty focuses on a subject that doesn’t interest me much and, frankly, could come off as an overblown Tom Clancy-esque story if put in the wrong hands, this first trailer for the film has definitely got me intrigued. What do you think? Will this be a critique of military action wrapped in a strong thriller, or, as one commenter on First Showing puts it, will this be “More U.S. warmongering bullshit”?
Zero Dark Thirty comes out December 19, 2012.
