I love a woman who can make me laugh, and Kristen Wiig is one such woman. A former member of The Groundlings improv comedy troupe, of whom Community‘s Jim Rash was also a member, Wiig came to prominence during season 31 of SNL. She still acts on SNL presently. Outside of Saturday Night Live, Wiig has appeared in a number of famous films, including Knocked Up, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Semi-Pro, Ghost Town, Adventureland, Extract, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Whip It, MacGruber, Date Night, Paul, and Bridesmaids – the film which got Wiig a best original screenplay Oscar nomination.
Wiig has also done loads of voice work for animated films such as Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Despicable Me, and How to Train Your Dragon, and on TV shows including The Cleveland Show and The Simpsons. And let us not forget Wiig’s extensive TV work on shows such as The Flight of the Conchords, The Drew Carey Show, Bored to Death and 30 Rock. She’s everywhere! Kristen Wiig turns 39 today.
