Before a Hispanic actor establishes themselves, it’s often unavoidable that they are forced to start off their career by taking a lot of stereotypical roles. For example, just look at Andy Garcia’s early filmography, where he had quite a few bit parts playing gang members or street toughs. One of his early stereotypical roles was in this 1979 episode of Archie Bunker’s Place, the spin-off of All in The Family. At the 7:30 mark of this clip, look for Andy as one of the non-English-speaking illegal immigrants who are hired to work as contractors on Archie’s restaurant.
