The charismatic genius that is Christoph Waltz celebrates his birthday today. Waltz is a very prolific actor, with over 100 credits to his name, but the majority of his work was actually done on German television, and I haven’t seen any of it. He made his film debut in the 1981 movie Kopfstand and his English-language film debut in the 1982 film Fire and Sword. But it wasn’t until 2009 that Waltz shot to prominence thanks to his role as Colonel Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. The role earned him an Academy Award and made him an international star instantly. Since then, he has appeared in The Green Hornet, Water for Elephants, The Three Musketeers, Carnage, and in the upcoming Django Unchained. He can also fluently speak German, English and French! That’s a bingo! Christoph Waltz turns 56 today.
