With the help of his mentor, a slave-turned-bounty hunter sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.

Just in case you’re new to The Back Row, all of us here love the works of Quentin Tarantino, and as such we’re all extremely excited for his next film Django Unchained. Now that Tarantino has moved outside of his comfort zone of crime films and into genre pictures, I find myself ever-intrigued to see what he does next. I also love Westerns, including the Franco Nero Django pictures that this film is based on, and it made me grin large to hear the familiar Django music cue during the title card of this new trailer. All of this to say: Django Unchained looks terrific. Is it weird that I’m looking forward to seeing actors like Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill play racist bigots?

Django Unchained comes out December 25, 2012.
