In 1989, a New York University film student named Michael J. Dennis decided to make a documentary short and really hit the jackpot when he found his subject: a young up-and-coming comedian named Chris Rock. The end result was called Who Is Chris Rock? and while he was still fairly unknown at the time, it wouldn’t be too much longer before everyone knew who Chris Rock was. This documentary features a lot of early stand-up footage from Rock, along with interviews of him and his mother discussing his career path and some of his raunchy material. Incidentally, the cameraman on this documentary also went on too much bigger things: he’s none other than Judah Friedlander of 30 Rock fame!
