Before They Were Stars: 16-Year Old Wayne Gretzky is Interviewed at the 1978 World Juniors

Are you hockey fans all feeling deprived right now because of the current NHL lockout? Well, not even pro sports is immune from the “Before They Were Stars” treatment. Here’s some vintage of footage of 16-year old Wayne Gretzky being interviewed at the 1978 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Gretzky was a true once-in-a-lifetime teen phenom at this point and everyone who watched him knew he was on the verge of mega-stardom… though, as you can see here, he was nowhere near as comfortable speaking in front of a television camera as he was on the ice.
