It’s all about the Soy Sauce, a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. Users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can’t.
I find myself really, really, really impressed with how faithful the movie of John Dies at the End seems to be to the book that serves as its source material. Even without seeing the entire film, I can recognize from the trailer several important scenes that are spread throughout the novel…and man, this looks AWESOME! It’s been a year filled with movies that I love, but this one may just take the top prize.
John Dies at the End comes out on VOD on December 27, 2012 and in theatres January 25, 2013.
