Hey, have you ever seen the David Bowie film The Man Who Fell to Earth? It’s about an alien who comes to earth and becomes famous, blending in with society by adopting the persona of an eccentric celebrity recluse. The movie has nothing to do with today’s celebrity birthday girl Tilda Swinton, except that I have a theory that Tilda Swinton is an alien blending in with us lowly humans in much the same way. Heck, she even kind of looks like a young David Bowie. Anyway, Tilda Swinton has acted almost exclusively in films, with her only TV credits being on the mini-series Zastrozzi: A Romance and on the series Your Cheatin’ Heart. She made her film debut in 1986’s Caravaggio, and quickly became known for her rebellious choices with gender-bending roles like in the film Orlando. Other notable Tilda Swinton films include The Beach, Vanilla Sky, Adaptation, Constantine, The Chronicles of Narnia, Michael Clayton, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and Moonrise Kingdom. She turns 52 today.
