Epic Snail (Er, Slug)

A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and evil rages on. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world — and ours.

A new trailer for the upcoming film Epic from Blue Sky Animation has appeared online, and my feelings about the film remain basically the same as when I saw the first preview. I think the design of the film looks awesome, the animation looks good, and the action seems solid. The title, on the other hand, is lacking. Even if this movie is epic, they’re kind of drawing a line in the sand by literally calling the film Epic. I guarantee that the reviews for this one will fall into two distinct camps: those who find it epic and those who don’t. There will be no middle ground. In fact, I’d put money on every review starting with the reviewer saying whether they found the film epic or not. Personally, I am rather nonplussed. If I see this in theatres, it’ll be because I think it’ll look good in 3D.

Epic comes out May 24, 2013.
