Character actor Daniel Davis is so posh that, even though he was born in Arkansas, I could have sworn he was British! Davis began his acting career on the stage, but made the transition to television in 1980 when he became a regular cast member on the TV series Texas. Much television work followed, as Davis appeared on TV shows including Highway to Heaven, Cagney & Lacey, Remington Steele, The A-Team, Cheers, Blind Justice, Matlock, The Equalizer, and Dynasty. In the late 1980s, Davis played roles in such films as K-9 and The Hunt for Red October, but quickly moved back into television, appearing on the TV series Columbo, L.A. Law, Murder, She Wrote, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Rugrats, and The Practice, before landing a prominent role as Niles the butler on the sitcom The Nanny. More recently, Davis appeared in a small role in the film The Prestige and on an episode of Ugly Betty. Daniel Davis turns 67 today.
