You know I always love to showcase stars who appeared in those cheesy editions of ABC Afterschool Special in the 1980s. To add to my ever-growing collection, here’s Marisa Tomei appearing in a 1987 episode entitled Supermom’s Daughter as a teenage girl who feels pressured by her mom to become a scientist at MIT. These specials usually involved a teenage meltdown, but it’s a pretty mild one this time around: Tomei pops a few balloons in frustration and her mother acts all shocked that her daughter wants to become a (gasp!) nursery school teacher!
