Horror movie legend Tobe Hooper celebrates his birthday today, and it’s amazing to think that his second film – The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – was so influential that they’re still making remakes, sequels and spinoffs today, almost forty years later! After The Texas Chainsaw Massacre proved to be quite the low-budget success, Hooper continued making horror movies, including Salem’s Lot, Poltergeist, Invaders From Mars, Lifeforce, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Hooper then moved into to television directing, contributing episodes to Amazing Stories, Tales from the Crypt, Perversions of Science, Night Visions, and Masters of Horror. Tobe Hooper turns 70 today.
