There Was A Time When You Might Have Cared About Internet Explorer

You can’t see it, but right now I’m laughing so hard that my keyboard is under a very real threat of having tea spilled all over it. This ad for Internet Explorer is hilarious, and definitely not in the way that Microsoft intended it to be. I know they’re trying to evoke a sense of nostalgia and remind us of a time when it was basically IE or Netscape as far as your internet browser choices went…but c’mon, guys! Did your marketing department not point out how this could backfire? This ad is basically saying “stick with Internet Explorer, because we were great twenty years ago!” I really hope that Microsoft follows up with an ad extolling the virtues of Windows 3.1. Anyway, we all know that Internet Explorer sucks. Heck, if you look at these statistics, you’ll see that IE’s popularity may well have been responsible for a spike in violent crime in the U.S.!

Okay, so I can’t back up this chart with any legitimate sources, but I think the abundance of brower comparison layouts like the one below proves that the vast majority of people really think of IE.
