Dusty is a cropdusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race. The problem? He is hopelessly afraid of heights. With the support of his mentor Skipper and a host of new friends, Dusty sets off to make his dreams come true.
If you have ever engaged me in a conversation about the works of Pixar, you’ll know that I find the Cars films to be the black sheep of the Pixar filmography. They’ve always felt more like Disney movies to me than Pixar films, and certainly aren’t held up to the same standard of quality as the rest of the Pixar oeuvre. So why, then, would I bother posting the trailer for Planes, the spin-off of Cars that isn’t even being done with Pixar’s involvement? It’s entirely because of the soundtrack of the trailer. That’s friggin’ White Zombie playing in a preview for a kids’ movie! I hope this means I’ll see the monsters dancing to TOOL or something in Monsters University.
Planes comes out August 9, 2013. But do you really care?
