Celebrity Birthday of the Day – February 18

Character actor and World War II veteran George Kennedy has appeared in over 200 film and television productions. After retiring from sixteen years of service in the military due to a back injury, Kennedy became a technical advisor on the TV series Sergeant Bilko and began acting on the series in bit parts. Shortly thereafter he appeared in Spartacus in an uncredited role, and since then he has played parts in such TV series as Maverick, Bat Masterson, The Red Skelton Show, The Andy Griffith Show, McHale’s Navy, Gunsmoke, The Love Boat, Dallas, and The Young and the Restless. He has also acted in such films as The Flight of the Phoenix, The Dirty Dozen, Cool Hand Luke, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Airport 1975, Airport ’77, Earthquake, The Delta Force, Creepshow 2, Cats Don’t Dance, Small Soldiers, and The Naked Gun trilogy. George Kennedy turns 88 today.
