Bruce Campbell Approved, But Does That Mean Anything?

I’ve resigned myself to seeing the remake of Evil Dead because there’s no way I can pass up seeing the remake of one of my favourite horror movies, but I’m not happy about it. Evil Dead is kind of a sacred property, in my opinion, as it was one of the first horror films I fell in love with. I’ve always been especially fond of its raw, guerilla approach to filmmaking and the fact that it has its tongue firmly planted in its cheek. And that’s why I’m not looking forward to the remake, because as far as I can tell, this don’t got none o’that. What I really need to reassure me is a trailer that’s scored entirely with the goofy record player music from the original that plays over the end credits. Show me that and I’ll be on board 100%. But until then, this just looks like every other horror remake to come out in recent years.

Evil Dead comes out April 5, 2013.
