Evil Dead 2 is one of my favourite films of all time, and a rare case of a sequel doubling as a remake and improving upon the original material by adding a pair of rednecks. One of those rednecks is the character of Bobby Joe, played by today’s celebrity birthday girl Kassie DePaiva in her debut film role. DePaiva began her career as a solo singer in Nashville, and studied theatre at UCLA before dropping out to entertain USO troops in Asia. She began her professional acting career on the TV soap Guiding Light in 1986 and appeared in Evil Dead 2 the following year. Since then, she has acted exclusively on TV series such as Melrose Place, Baywatch, One Life to Live and General Hospital. But she’ll always be Bobby Joe to me. Kassie DePaiva turns 52 today.
