Before They Were Stars: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s First Televised Wrestling Match (as Flex Kavana!)

It’s an important time for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson right now as G.I. Joe: Retaliation just opened in theaters this past weekend, and he is going to be defending the WWE Title against John Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania 29 next weekend. So we must take a moment to remember that this very successful dude once went by the name of “Flex Kavana”. I’ve previously shown footage from early in Mr. Johnson’s career when he wrestled as Flex Kavana in Memphis, but I believe this is the first official match he ever wrestled on television, teaming up with Brian Christopher to face two of Memphis’ biggest legends, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Bill Dundee.
