I’m going to turn my lights off.

For decades, scientists have theorized the existence of liquid water oceans on Jupiter’s moon, Europa. We’ve recently discovered new, captivating evidence that these sub-surface oceans do exist and could support life. We’ve sent six astronauts from space programs throughout the world on a three year journey to Europa to explore its oceans and confirm these findings.

This movie has come completely out of left-field for me, as I had no idea it was being made. Surprising, considering how big a fan I am of Sharlto Copley. Ever since District 9, I’ve sought out everything he’s done. Heck, I even liked The A-Team in large part because of him. Anyway, Europa Report looks like really solid science fiction. I like the focus on realistic science, I like the semi-found-footage shooting style, and I especially like how much terror the trailer alone evokes! Seriously, I was on the edge of my seat watching this. I will be watching this one very, very closely. But I’m not turning off my lights.

Europa Report comes out August 2, 2013.
