Maggie Q must be a casting director’s best friend, because she comes from such a diverse lineage that she can play a whole bunch of different nationalities – raised in Hawaii, her father is of Irish and Polish descent and her mother is Vietnamese. Q started her career as a model in Tokyo and Hong Kong, where she was discovered by Jackie Chan, who saw her as a potential action star and would go on to cast her in Manhattan Midnight and Rush Hour 2. In 2006, Q moved into more mainstream Hollywood fare when she appeared in Mission: Impossible III, and she appeared in Live Free or Die Hard the following year. Since then, Maggie Q has acted in The Warrior and the Wolf, The King of Fighters, and Priest, and stars in the TV series Nikita. She turns 34 today.
