Cillian Murphy’s acting career began on the stage, as so many do, and it was ni 1996 that he made his professional acting debut in the play Disco Pigs. In the late 90s, Murphy began to star in independent short films, and made the transition to television acting in the BBC miniseries The Way We Live Now. In 2001, Murphy reprised his role in the film adaptation of Disco Pigs, which caught the eye of director Danny Boyle who then cast him in the lead for 28 Days Later. Murphy’s career took off almost immediately, and he went on to appear in such films as Girl with a Pearl Earring, Cold Mountain, Batman Begins, Red Eye, Breakfast on Pluto, Sunshine, The Dark Knight, Inception, In Time, and The Dark Knight Rises. Cillian Murphy turns 37 today.
