Before he was an actor, Paul Bettany was a busker who played guitar in the streets of London, where he also enrolled at the London Drama Centre when he was 19. Bettany’s early acting career was on the stage, and he appeared in a number of productions by the Royal Shakespeare Company before landed a role in a BBC production of Oliver Twist. Bettany’s breakthrough roles were in the 2000 film Gangster No. 1 and in 2001’s A Knight’s Tale, which introduced him to North American audiences. Since then, Bettany has acted in the films A Beautiful Mind, Dogville, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Wimbledon, The Da Vinci Code, The Young Victoria, Legion, Priest, The Tourist, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3.
