Before They Were Stars: David Prowse Promotes Traffic Safety as the “Green Cross Man”

Of course, David Prowse became a pop culture icon for portraying Darth Vader, but before that, he was already semi-famous in Britain for playing a character known as the “Green Cross Man”. The Green Cross Man was basically a superhero who appeared in a bunch of road safety films and commercials, making it his goal to ensure children were crossing the street safely. You know, during the scene in Return of the Jedi where Luke reveals that he has constructed a new green lightsaber, they really should have had Vader morph into the Green Cross Man.
