In 1980, an unknown Jerry Seinfeld acted in a couple of episodes of the popular sitcom, Benson, playing a mail delivery boy named Frankie who also happened to be a really bad aspiring stand-up comedian. Since Frankie was a recurring character for a brief period, Seinfeld actually thought he was going to become a full-time cast member… until he showed up for a read-through session one day and found out there was no script for him because they neglected to tell him he’d been fired!
