This city is so damn beautiful

The 1940s-set series opens in post-war L.A. where the city is caught between a powerful and corrupt police force and a criminal network determined to set up shop on the West Coast.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where did this come from? Frank Darabont is a real person of interest on this site. He’s directed some of my favourite movies – The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist, in particular – and after he tried to adapt one of my favourite comic book properties into a TV show he was unceremoniously dismissed. Now Darabont is back with a new series called Mob City, which kinda looks like everything Gangster Squad wanted to be but wasn’t. Now, as I watched this trailer, my interest level hovered somewhere between “mild” and “rather” interested…but then Simon Freaking Pegg showed up, and with an American accent no less, so now I’m totally hooked. I need to see this. Oh, how I need to see this.

Mob City starts on December 4, 2013.
