In 1974, a low-budget Brooklyn-filmed coming-of-age story called The Lords of Flatbush was released, featuring Sylvester Stallone in one of his very first starring roles and Henry Winkler doing an early version of Fonzie right before Happy Days went on the air. It’s amazing to think that a young Richard Gere was also originally a part of this “Before They Were Stars” cast, but his reason for not being in the movie is actually quite hilarious. Apparently, Gere and Stallone just HATED each other during filming and after Stallone punched Gere for spilling mustard in his car, he went to the director and got Gere fired. The two actors still hate each to this day and Gere apparently believes that Stallone was the one who started that whole gerbil rumour about him!
