Yesterday, I showcased Stephen Fry’s 1980 appearance as a contestant on the popular British quiz show, University Challenge. At that time, Fry was a member of the Cambridge University Footlights Dramatic Club, and this is where he first crossed paths with fellow future stars Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson. In 1984, the three of them would make a guest appearance on the comedy series, The Young Ones, where they did a full-fledged parody of University Challenge.
