Oh boy oh boy oh boy, it’s HALLOWEEN! The spookiest day of the year! The black sheep among the celebratory days – not worthy of a day off, not exactly tied to any particular religion, and encouraging bad behaviour like scaring children and pigging out on candy. And one of my favourite ways to celebrate Halloween is by marathonning scary movies, so I’ll be posting three of them on The Back Row today. That’s right – three entire movies, so you too can join in the festivities!
We’re starting things off with an 80’s schlock-fest that you might not have heard of, but which delivers the goods: Spookies. This movie has it all! Vampires, giant spiders, were-cats, tentacle monsters, mud men, and even the Grim Reaper. The only things missing are a plot that makes sense and likeable characters. But man, some of these special effects are awesome!
