I’m still amazed that Need for Speed looks as good as it does, but this trailer really illustrates the collision of silly and serious that the movie seems to be. Aaron Paul is awesome, and this is a solid leading role for him, but man, I think he needs to add a bit more camp to his performance and lose a few of the tears. This isn’t, Drive, Pinkman! It’s Fast and Furious with Hot Wheels! But man, I’m not a car guy by any stretch of the imagination, but these car chases look fantastic. It looks like a bunch of the stunt driving is done practically, and the cinematography looks to be a feast for the eyes. I dunno if this will be a quality film by normal standards, but I’d put good money on Need for Speed being the best film based on a video game property so far. Yeah, I said it.
