Hail Caesar

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes was one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of 2011. Nobody even dreamed that a Planet of the Apes reboot would be anything but stupid, and we had Tim Burton’s disastrous attempt at a remake to point to as evidence. But no, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, in spite of its extremely long title, was not only a good movie, it was a great movie. It was a movie about a revolutionary leader that I actually found more inspiring than films like Che. And we’re talking about a CGI ape! Anyway, I was thoroughly impressed with the movie, and now I’m totally stoked for its sequel: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The special effects on Caesar look even better this time around, there’s a stellar cast involved…guys, this is going to be terrific. Count me in!

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comes out July 11, 2014.
