Before They Were Stars: 11-Year Old Jet Li Meets Richard Nixon

Wow, talk about uncovering obscure footage! Jet Li spent much of his childhood on the Beijing Wushu Team, performing martial arts exhibitions throughout the world. In 1974, when Jet was 11 years old, the team was invited to perform at the White House and he got the opportunity to meet President Richard Nixon. He claims that Nixon even asked him to be his personal bodyguard and that he allegedly responded with: “I don’t want to protect any individual. When I grow up, I want to protect my one billion Chinese countrymen”. However, there’s no trace of that conversation in any of this footage, so I have to wonder if the story is highly exaggerated.
