Founded in 1865, Abraham & Straus was a very prominent department store in Brooklyn before it was combined with Macy’s during the 1990s. Many years ago, they got an unknown Fred Willard to appear in one of their commercials, as a guy who buys a stuffed owl from Abraham & Straus as a gift for his wife’s father. I’m not quite sure what the message of this ad is supposed to be. That merchandise from Abraham & Straus sells out so quickly… you might be stuck buying a stuffed owl?
