J.K. Simmons did not start his career in film and television until the mid-1990s, spending many years before that working on Broadway. In 1992, he played the role of Benny Southstreet in a Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls. He’s the guy in the purple suit during this musical number and even though J.K. is just a background player, keep an eye on his priceless, scene-stealing facial expressions. By the way, this is not the first J.K. Simmons musical clip I’ve posted here and it would be a crime to neglect my obligatory inclusion of the song-and-dance number between Vern Schillinger and Tobias Beecher during the surreal musical episode of Oz.
