I can’t watch a trailer for The Boxtrolls without getting chills from all the stop-motion beauty. Something about this latest offering from Laika studios has overwhelmed me in a way that many other stop-motion films from recent years haven’t (with the exception of ParaNorman). Maybe it’s the gloriously minute attention to detail, maybe it’s the adorable trolls, maybe it’s the strangely steampunky look of it all…I don’t know. But I predict a masterpiece.
