Before They Were Stars: 15-Year Old Penelope Cruz in a Spanish Music Video

For over a decade, the pop group Mecano was arguably the most successful, best-selling Spanish band of all time. In 1989, Mecano released a hit single called “La Fuerza del Destino” and a young Penelope Cruz made her first appearance in front of a camera in the music video. Throughout the video, Penelope is frequently shown embracing one of the band members, Nacho Cano, even though he was 26 years old at the time and she was only 15! The two of them would actually become involved in a real-life relationship shortly after the video came out.
