It has been literally over a decade since I was last excited for a Planet of the Apes movie, and the last movie in the franchise that I was eagerly anticipating was Tim Burton’s ill-conceived attempt at a remake. I was so put off by that film, amazing makeup effects be damned, that when Rise of the Planet of the Apes came out, I was seriously hesitant to even see it, so badly had I been burned. But I did give in and watch it, and I found myself amazed at how well the Apes mythos had been rebooted. It was seriously awesome, and now we’ve got a sequel coming in the form of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and man, it looks even more awesome! How did this happen? This new TV spot doesn’t show much more than we’ve already seen in the trailer, but that shot of San Fransisco all overgrown is worth the price of admission alone. The apes look great, too! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!
