Before They Were Stars: Arsenio Hall on “Thicke of the Night”

In the early 1980s, Alan Thicke hosted his own Canadian daytime talk show and, for whatever reason, someone thought it would be a good idea to bring him to America to host a late-night talk show to combat The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. The end result was Thicke of the Night and needless to say, it wasn’t successful and lasted less than a year. However, the show was notable for giving relatively unknown comedian and future late-night host Arsenio Hall one of his first major gigs as Thicke’s sidekick and here he is announcing a mud wrestling match.
