Kudos to Gill for sending this hilarious piece of obscure footage my way. Before he hosted Mystery Science Theater 3000, Joel Hodgson worked as a stand-up comedian and even got to make a few appearances on Saturday Night Live. In November 1983, Joel used a dynamite bomb as a prop in one of his SNL sketches. Unfortunately, when Joel checked out of his hotel the next day, he accidentally left the prop behind in his room. When the suspicious-looking device was discovered, it caused a full-fledged bomb scare and hotel evacuation which wound up making the news!
