Back in 1980, while he was still making his name by playing his music on the Dr. Demento radio show, Weird Al Yankovic recorded this rather scathing parody of the Billy Joel song, “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”. However, Weird Al’s version was titled “It’s Still Billy Joel to Me” and pretty much poked fun of how lame he thought Billy Joel’s music was. Of course, we all know that whenever Weird Al parodies a song, he always makes sure to ask the artist for their permission first. Years later, when Weird Al started releasing albums, he never included “It’s Still Billy Joel to Me” on any of them. He believed that Mr. Joel would not be so keen about granting his permission and has actually apologized for recording the song in the first place.
