I’m not a die-hard Spongebob Squarepants fanatic or anything, but I will admit to watching the first Spongebob movie and enjoying it as some silly fun. Now there’s a sequel, and they’re diving into Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks territory by bringing the characters into the real world in vaguely disturbing CGI. I can’t say that I’m going to rush out and see this, but Spongebob is so weird that, unlike those other two movies I mentioned, I think this style might actually work alright here. Mostly I’m posting this trailer because of how bizarre it is. I predict that theatres showing Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water will be half filled with families and half filled with stoners.
Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water comes out February 6, 2015.
