In case you’re not familiar with the formula of the long-running game show, To Tell the Truth, it involves a panel of celebrities trying to guess the identity of someone who either has an unusual occupation or is responsible for an unusual achievement. The celebrities ask questions to three contestants, two of whom are lying impostors, and attempts to figure out which one of them is the real deal. In 1975, 12-year old Ally Sheedy had written a children’s book called “She Was Nice to Mice”, which was actually published by McGraw-Hill and became a bestseller. Since the Brat Pack was still several years away, the world did not yet know what Ally Sheedy looked like, so she appeared on To Tell the Truth alongside two impostors as the panel tried to determine who the real “Ally Sheedy” was.
