Before They Were Stars: Greg Nicotero in “Day of the Dead”

On Halloween, I decided to re-watch George Romero’s classic zombie film, Day of the Dead, and had completely forgotten that Greg Nicotero, arguably the most prominent make-up effects guy in Hollywood today, played one of the soldiers. Nicotero actually got his first big break working as an assistant to Tom Savini on Day of the Dead and as a bonus, wound up getting the role of Private Johnson as well. Incidentally, the title of this clip is inaccurate as Greg Nicotero is NOT the guy who gets his throat eaten by zombies in this scene, but is actually the soldier who gets shot instead.
