Now that the nominations for the 87th Academy Awards have been announced, it’s time for an annual tradition here at The Back Row: “Before They Were Stars” clips for this year’s nominees! However, at age 84, Robert Duvall still made a strong enough impression in the film to garner his 7th career nomination. Here’s one of Duvall’s earliest roles in “Bad Actor”, a 1962 episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents where he plays a struggling actor who decides to strangle one of his rival thespians to death in order to win his part.
