So, let me get this straight: they once made a television pilot where Dustin Hoffman cross-examined Alan Alda on the witness stand and it never got picked up?! Well, at the time, Dustin Hoffman and Alan Alda were unknown actors and when a serious courtroom drama is titled Higher and Higher, Attorneys at Law and chronicles a husband-and-wife lawyer team named the Highers, it’s probably not going to go very far. The pilot for Higher and Higher was made in 1966, but even though it bombed, it featured a plethora of famous actors who went on to much bigger things. In addition to Hoffman and Alda, this clip also features a young Sally Kellerman (a neat crossover between the M*A*S*H movie and TV series) and Robert Forster in his very first role. And even though he’s not in this particular scene, Billy Dee Williams also had an early role in the pilot!
