Before They Were Stars: Seth MacFarlane in “A Better Place”

During the 1990s, Seth MacFarlane attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where his student thesis film, The Life of Larry, became the early prototype for Family Guy. He also starred in another student film by his friend, Greg Scalzo, entitled A Better Place. This film also seems to contain tropes from Seth MacFarlane’s later work, as his character spontaneously breaks out into song and makes obscure pop culture references, crooning about how sad he was when Cop Rock got cancelled.
