Before They Were Stars: Alex Trebek’s Audition for CBC

During the 1960s, Alex Trebek started off his television career hosting such Canadian programs as Music Hop and Reach for the Top. By the end of the decade, he got himself some hosting gigs for shows on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and thankfully for us “Before They Were Stars” aficionados, CBC still has Trebek’s original audition tape in their vault. It’s surreal to see footage of a young Trebek speaking in the same voice which sounds exactly the same 50 years later, yet he looks like Elliott Gould.
